GrabFood Thailand announced it reached over 4 million orders in the first four months of 2019, eclipsing the reported 3 million orders it achieved during the whole of 2018.

Riding on the achievement, GrabFood plans to expand to at least six more cities across the country this year. It’s banking on its partnership with Central Group, an omnichannel retail conglomerate in Thailand, to help accelerate its expansion.GrabFood was launched in Thailand in early 2018. Then, Grab acquired Uber’s Southeast Asia business, thrusting Grab into potentially becoming a food delivery giant. Grab integrated UberEats into GrabFood, which helped it expand into Malaysia and Singapore, and then in Vietnam and the Philippines.Early this year, Grab said its food delivery footprint grew 10x between January and December 2018 in terms of daily deliveries.

GrabFood head Tomaso Rodriguez previously said that the company plans to continue its growth with further investments in an effort to become the “everyday super app.”

GrabFood Thailand counts Foodpanda, UberEats Thailand, and Eatigo, among others, as its competitors in the country.
