The Airports Department is expecting more than 400,000 passengers to travel through 25 Thai airports during the Songkran holidays this year.
The agency’s director-general, Ampawan Wannako, on Tuesday said this year’s passenger number projection for the holidays was 404,773 for the period from April 11 to 17, or 57,224 passengers per day.
The projected number has increased from last year.
Some 365,891 passengers this year are expected to take domestic flights, which is more than the 347,423 passengers recorded last year, while the number of international passengers is expected to be 38,882, exceeding last year’s 33,476, Ampawan said.
The number of flights during the period will be 2,223, slightly fewer than last year’s 2,227. Compared to the 2018 figure, passenger numbers are forecast increase by 23,874, or 6.26 per cent, while flight numbers will reduce by 0.1 per cent, she added.
